Groupings Update – January, 2017

Our grouping consists of the following parishes:

* = 3 parishes with Catholic Elementary Schools

In this grouping, we will seek to cooperate across parish lines — through common programs or celebrations, shared staff members, etc.  This is an organic growth of the ways in which these parishes already work together:

  • Shared RCIA program for St. Matthias, Queen of Angels and Our Lady of Lourdes — welcoming and forming adults who are becoming Catholic or completing their initiation in the Catholic Church
  • 6:30 Sunday evening Mass hosted at St. Benedict is supported by clergy and promoted to parishioners from St. Matthias, Our Lady of Lourdes, and Queen of Angels
  • Mutual support for Catholic Pastoral Care services at local medical center Swedish Covenant Hospital
    • Shared responsibility for emergency administration of the Anointing of the Sick — rotates each week among on-call clergy from St. Matthias, St. Hilary, Queen of Angels and Our Lady of Mercy
    • Shared Ministry of Care services to bring Holy Communion and pray with patients (parishes each visit 1 Sunday per month — Queen of Angels has the 3rd Sunday)
    • Interdenominational effort of local churches and staff from Communities United (formerly Albany Park Neighborhood Council) to educate our parishioners about and improve access to charity care offered at the hospital

“Renew My Church”

Archbishop Cupich invites everyone to respond to Christ’s call to “Renew My Church.” What we are now
undertaking will chart the course for greater vibrancy and vitality of our parishes for generations to come.

PRAYER FOR “RENEW MY CHURCH”

Lord Jesus, you speak to us today,
as you spoke to holy men and women
who have gone before us.
In every age and in our own time,
you call to us and say “Renew My Church.”

Pour out the gift of your Holy Spirit upon us,
and so enable us
to hear you clearly
to listen to each other attentively
to imagine our future boldly
to discern your direction wisely
to persevere in your holy will courageously
to stay together in charity
to surrender our own plans readily
to embrace the greater good
to hand on your gifts to future generations.

May we remain in the holy company of
the Blessed Virgin Mary, the apostles,
and all the saints.
May their example and presence
inspire us with patient confidence
in the work of your grace.

We ask this of you who live and reign with the Father
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
ORACIÓN DE “RENUEVA MI IGLESIA”

Señor Jesús, nos hablas el día de hoy,
igual que les hablaste a hombres y mujeres santos
que nos precedieron.
En cada época y en nuestro propio tiempo,
nos llamas y nos dices: “Renueva Mi Iglesia.”

Derrama sobre nosotros el don de tu Espíritu Santo,
y de ese modo permítenos
escucharte claramente
escucharnos unos a otros con atención
imaginar nuestro futuro con audacia
discernir tus indicaciones sabiamente
perseverar en tu santa voluntad con valor
permanecer juntos en la caridad
entregar sin reparos nuestros propios planes
adoptar el bien común
transmitir tus dones a las generaciones futuras.

Permítenos permanecer en la compañía santa de
La Virgen María, los apóstoles
y todos los santos.
Que su ejemplo y su presencia
