Lenten Stations of the Cross CANCELLED

Stations of the Cross (Viacrucis) will no longer take place due to the outbreak of COVID19 and the limit on in-person gatherings.  A slideshow of our church’s Stations art is being prepared for your prayer at home.  Thank you for your understanding.

Please join us in church each Friday in Lent to walk with Jesus in the Stations of the Cross.  Stations will be held at 6:30 p.m. in English and 7:30 p.m. in Spanish, on each Friday in Lent:

February 28; March 6, 13, 20 & 27; and April 3, 2020.

Eucharistic Benediction is included in the service.  Follow in the footsteps of Jesus on the Way of Sorrows through this meaningful Lenten devotion.  Ponder and pray over the pains and
sacrifices of modern life as you are moved by the trials Jesus faced on the cross.  This is a great faith opportunity for adults or families of all ages to pray together in a timeless Catholic devotion.

Directives During Times of Widespread Illness

  • All Priests, Deacons, Altar Servers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion must wash their hands before Mass begins and use an alcohol based anti-bacterial solution before & after distributing Holy Communion.
  • This will be done while maintaining the reverence of the Mass.
  • All vessels used at Mass, once purified, are thoroughly washed with soap and hot water after each use.
  • During all Masses and liturgies, the faithful are asked to temporarily refrain from:
    • Physical contact during the Sign of Peace (note: the Sign of Peace can be exchanged without physical contact).
    • Holy Communion via the chalice.
    • Holding hands during the Lord’s Prayer.
    • Using Holy Water fonts.
    • Given the frequency of direct contact with saliva in the distribution of Holy Communion on the tongue, every
consideration should be given by each individual to receive Communion reverently in open hands for the time being.
    • If you are sick or are experiencing symptoms of sickness, you are not obliged to attend Mass, and even out of
charity you ought not to attend. Catechism 2181 allows for missing Sunday Mass for serious reasons like illness.
  • Finally, please join in praying for all those who are sick!

Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe

“Love Is the Only Light.” Next weekend, February 29 and March 1, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. This collection supports the Church in more than 20 countries that are still struggling to recover in the aftermath of communist rule. Funds from this collection support pastoral care, catechesis, building renovations, and seminary formation.  Your support restores the Church and builds the future in this region. Please prayerfully consider how you can support the collection next week. An envelope was
included in the bimonthly packet mailed to parishioners’ homes.
