Register for Religious Education (CCD), 2019-2020

CHILDREN’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Registration is open through October 1, 2019, for Religious Education (CCD) during the 2019-2020 school year. The program is designed for children not attending a Catholic elementary school. Families are encouraged to register their children who will be entering Kindergarten through Eighth Grade in order to:

  • grow in friendship with Jesus and in Christian moral values,
  • learn about Mass, Church teachings and Catholic traditions, and
  • prepare for sacraments of First Reconciliation (Confession), First Holy Communion (Eucharist) and Confirmation.

Most classes are on Sunday mornings and will begin Sunday, September 8, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in our school, 4520 N. Western. The second year of Confirmation Preparation begins with a parent meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 16, in the Lower Voss, 4412 N. Western.

Classes are conducted in English, though communication with families is in English and Spanish.

Please click here for registration documents or email parish@queenofangelschicago.org or call 773-539-7510 for more information.

  • New students who are older than Eighth Grade but younger than Twelfth Grade (or 18 years) may also be accepted into the Religious Education program, but please call for Level placement and further details.
  • Sacramental preparation for adults over the age of 18 is through our RCIA Program, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.  Please contact the parish office, parish@queenofangelschicago.org or 773-539-7510.  Classes are shared among several local parishes, and classes meet on Tuesday evenings, either at Queen of Angels (odd-numbered months) or at St. Matthias Parish (even-numbered months) to the north.  This year’s sessions begin with an opening picnic at nearby St. Matthias Parish, 2310 W. Ainslie, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1.

SSVD Toiletries Drive Continues

Are you visiting a hotel this summer? Keep in mind the needs of the poor and bring home unused individual bottles of shampoo, lotion and other toiletries for the Franciscan Outreach Mission and the Pope Francis Center here in Chicago. The Society of St. Vincent dePaul has a
collection box in the church gathering space for donated items, some of which will help provide needed toiletries for some of the 40,000 showers at the Mission each year!

North Side Kairos 18
North Side Kairos

The North Side Kairos Retreat is a four-day experience for teens who have just completed their sophomore, junior or senior years of high school. On Kairos, you are invited to reflect on relationships with yourself, friends, family and God. Kairos presents an opportunity to heal, rejoice, question, explore the Catholic faith, meet new people and have fun.

The youth who participate in and lead North Side Kairos come from many different parishes in the city and suburbs. The retreat is led by trained peer leaders and Virtus-certified adult lay ministers. A participant does not need be Catholic to attend.

North Side Kairos 20 will be Friday-Monday, August 9-12, 2019 at Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House in Barrington. The group departs from and returns to Our Lady of Hope Parish in Rosemont. The cost including meals is $225. Payment plans and scholarships can be arranged: money should not be a reason to skip the retreat.
